Weekend Pennant

TEAM SELECTION

Teams are generally selected on a Monday evening and are on display in the Clubrooms from Tuesday morning. Teams are also published on the Club’s website, a great source of information on all bowls and social issues. All players are responsible for ensuring that they are aware of where they have been selected and for making the necessary travel arrangements. Players should also ensure that if they have been selected as a duty rink or as side-manager, they are aware of the responsibilities of the role and complete their duties in a timely and accurate manner. See also, “OBJECTIVES”, below.

STARTING TIME

The official starting time for Weekend Pennant is 1:00 pm. All players are expected to be in attendance for their Pennant match by 12:15 pm to allow the Side Manger to ensure all players have arrived and to participate in the roll-up before the game commences. All roll-ups to be completed by 1:00 pm. Players must notify the Side Manager or the Pennant Selection Committee if they have any transport issues or are unwell.

HEAT RULE

There is a common temperature limit of 36 degrees Celsius for both Saturday and Mid-week Pennant. Temperature readings for Montmorency home games are taken from the Viewbank Meteorological Recording Station and games must cease while the temperature remains at or higher than this reading. Every effort should be made to complete the end in progress before players leave the green. Play is to commence once the temperature falls below 36 degrees. If play is suspended due to Heat and the game is not recommenced within 1 hour of the cessation of play, then that game will be abandoned immediately. As temperatures are taken locally, Bowls Victoria will no longer (in general) cancel Metropolitan Pennant prior to the commencement of play.

INCLEMENT WEATHER

If play cannot commence at the scheduled commencement time of the game, play may be suspended up to one hour. If after one hour of play being suspended the game cannot commence, the game will be abandoned. If play has commenced, if after one hour of play being suspended the game cannot continue, the game will be abandoned. It is the responsibility of the side managers to record the time the play is suspended. Every effort must be made to complete any ends in progress prior to leaving the green. Any interrupted games will be abandoned after five hours from the scheduled start time.

UNIFORM

All bowlers representing Montmorency are expected to be correctly attired in Club shirts, green trousers/shorts/skirts and approved bowls shoes. Uniforms should be clean and in reasonable repair.
