MERSL Challenge Shield – 2025

The Montmorency Bowls Club  was successful in retaining the MERSL Challenge Shield played on Saturday at the MBC against EBC.  The scoring system used was the same as used in pennant matches, that is, 10 points for a side win and 2 points for each winning rink.

Three sides won  and, overall, we only lost 5 rinks.  The total points were MBC 52 points and EBC 20 points.

It was a perfect day for bowls and it was good to see the clubrooms packed with bowlers. It appears that all participants had an enjoyable day and EBC appreciated our hospitality and our fantastic facilities.

It was also great to have the President of the MERSL, Ash Graham, to present the Shield after the game.  Ash presented the trophy to Bert Wilson (MBC President), with Tom Ridi (EBC President) in attendance.

The MERSL sponsors both clubs. It was the first time he had been to our club and he was impressed with our new clubrooms and greens.

Next year it is planned to play this match at the EBC unless there is a late change.
